What is collagen?

Collagen comes from the Greek words "colla" and "gene". Together, the words mean "to make glue" or "to bind together." Collagen is therefore an important glue-forming protein in the body. It provides the structure and elasticity of skin, hair, nails, bones, muscles and joints. Thirty percent of the proteins in the body are made up of collagen. Collagen is an important basic molecule for all connective tissues in your body.

Collagen hydrolysate: an excellent source of protein

Collagen hydrolysate is produced by first converting collagen into the easily absorbed gelatin. This gelatin is further processed, using enzymes to break down the proteins into even smaller pieces. Collagen hydrolysate is therefore highly absorbable and the amino acids are immediately available to the body. Collagen hydrolysate can be dissolved in cold and hot liquids and remains liquid. Collagen powder contains, among other things, the important amino acids lysine and proline. These amino acids are important for the proper functioning of the body. Collagen also contains glycine. This is a semi-essential amino acid.

Collagen supplement: source of calcium, phosphorus and magnesium.

Collagen hydrolysate powder has many health benefits. It is a powerful source of protein and contains specific amino acids and amino acid compounds that the body can utilize well. Collagen also contains important minerals such as calcium, phosphorus and magnesium, which are important for the teeth, skeleton, muscles, nervous system and cell division process, among others. The calcium contained in collagen also supports energy balance and digestion. Collagen is a complete protein source rich in glycine, proline and hydroxyproline. Collagen powder is tasteless and suitable for daily use. You can easily mix the powder with cold or hot liquids, such as in a shake or smoothie.

Buy pure collagen powder

All collagen products in our range come from reputable brands such as Great Lakes, Ancestral Supplements and our own Ergomax brand. What these companies have in common is that all three guarantee a very pure collagen powder. For example, no excipients, hormones, pesticides or antibiotics are used. All collagen powders are also gluten-free, glyphosate-free and GMO-free. The result is collagen products of very pure quality, rich in collagen types I, II and III. The collagen powders are based on the "eat head-to-tail" principle. The wild-caught cod-based collagen hydrolysate powders of our own brand Ergomax come from sustainably sourced cod.
