What makes Broth of Life bone broth so special?

This Broth of Life bone broth is made with great care and attention and can be called a special product for several reasons. For example, the water used to make the broth is carefully filtered three times through a special system to ensure that there is no chlorine or fluoride in the water. Subsequently, an extremely meticulous and manual production process takes place, which involves a lot of time and attention. This way the soup invariably simmers for at least 24 hours, so that the collagen and the other special components that naturally occur in animal bones and connective tissues can be released slowly but steadily.

Broth of Life has been researching bone broth for years to develop the highest possible product quality; it is not without reason that she is the market leader in her sector and her product is also the first 100% certified bone broth in the world! Broth of Life was also the first worldwide to dehydrate and package its products in a convenient powder form, making the soup easy to store and use. When you buy products from Broth of Life, you can be sure you get an extremely nutritious and high-quality product of which you know exactly what it contains. Broth of Life prides itself on being transparent about what ingredients are used to produce its nutritious 'golden elixirs', as they like to call their broths.

Bone broth as an ancient tradition

Archaeological finds have shown that the Ice Ages hunters and collectors already used pots to cook fish and carcasses. For example, discoveries have been made all over the world showing that our ancestors have been making broth from freshly caught animal food sources for millennia. Instinctively they already knew the strength and nurturing capacity of animal bones and organs. Bone broth used to have something old-fashioned to it, but it seems to have been making a real comeback in recent years. Simmering bones on low heat for hours takes us back to grandmother's time and reminds us of the importance of good nutrition lovingly prepared. A good bone broth in no way resembles ready-to-eat stock, which often consists only of meat with flavor enhancers and low in nutrients. Nutrients in broth are only released when you let quality bones and bone marrow simmer for at least 24 hours at low temperatures. It is thus that easily absorbable gelatin, vitamins, minerals and amino acids can be easily absorbed by the body. Its timeless and world-wide use is proof that there is no natural food source quite as nutritious as bone broth!

The secret of bone broth

A good bone broth contains a variety of essential nutrients that have powerful beneficial effects on your entire body. Long-term simmering releases easily absorbable vitamins, minerals and amino acids and converts collagen into gelatin, so that your body can absorb this substance well. In addition, broth contains special carbohydrates called glycosaminoglycans. Collagen is a glue-forming protein found in the bones of vertebrates and released in bone broth as the easily absorbable gelatin. Because of its powerful nurturing properties , bone broth is justifiably called a superfood!

Benefits:

  • The benefits of high-quality bone broth without the hassle
  • Easy to use
  • Dissolves easily and completely
  • Source of gelatin and glycosaminoglycans

The importance of collagen for our body

Collagen fibers are important extracellular proteins throughout the body. They make up about 25% to 35% of the total protein content in the body and are used by the body to build the special collagen triple helix structure. This structure ensures that tissues and fibers in our body maintain their strength, cohesion and flexibility. Before about the age of 25 the body makes enough collagen. Thereafter its production decreases and then it becomes useful to supplement this substance, through food for example. More than 90% of the collagen in our body consists of type I. Collagen type II is found in joints, ribs, nose, larynx and intervertebral discs while type III is common in the skin and blood vessels. Bovine collagen is most commonly used in collagen supplements and it consists mainly of type I and III collagen.

Bone broth versus collagen hydrolysate

In bone broth, collagen is converted into gelatin, which is easily absorbed by the body. You may have encountered supplements containing collagen hydrolysate, in which the gelatin has been further processed and the proteins have been broken up into smaller pieces by means of enzymes. While collagen hydrolysate contains only type I collagen, bone broth gelatin consists of multiple types of collagen and contains more nutrients, such as useful minerals, fats and special carbohydrates (glycosaminoglycans, also known as GAGs). Although gelatin in bone broth is richer, both forms contain essential amino acids that are easily absorbed and have the same nutritious properties.

Rich source of rare amino acids

Proteins are made up of building blocks called amino acids. These amino acids, 22 in total, are divided into essential and non-essential amino acids. The body can produce non-essential amino acids itself. This is not the case for the essential amino acids, rendering it essential that you acquire these amino acids either through your diet or through supplements. The amino acid profile in bone broth is quite unique: it contains high concentrations of glycine, glutamine, arginine and proline. They are all essential amino acids.

Eating from head to tail

Animal organs have been eaten in all traditional civilizations across millennia, from Native American to ancient Chinese cultures. Traditional healers had the insight that eating healthy, animal organs has a nurturing effect on the same organs in the human body. Today, as a result of prosperity and abundance, we have largely forgotten the head-to-tail principle, and some even shy away from consuming animal organs. Fortunately, there has recently been a revival of this ancestral way of life and of evolutionary food: organ therapy is back. After all, it is part of an ethical, sustainable and healthy lifestyle to use animals in their entirety for consumption. Organ meats contain high concentrations of nutrients, such as vitamin B12 and folate, and are an excellent source of iron and protein. In addition, organs also contain nutrients that our corresponding human organs crave. Organ meat is therefore the ideal food for those who want to live healthily and sustainably while respecting animals and environment.

About Broth of Life

Broth of Life's bone broth is made from high-quality, natural ingredients that are selected by hand. Based in Australia, the family business is the only company in the world producing certified bone broth in powder form. The company attaches great importance to quality and for this reason works only with pasture chickens and grass-fed cattle. This is important because the hormones, antibiotics and toxins used in factory farming are mainly stored in the bone marrow of animals. Each bag of Broth of Life bone broth is lovingly prepared and contains powdered bone broth, rendering the broth easy to store and use. Not only can you mix the powder with boiling water to end up with a hot drink, the powder is also a wonderful base for sauces and stews and it gives your meals just that little bit of extra zest. Either way you can easily enjoy all the benefits that a good bone broth has to offer, without having to stand in the kitchen for hours!
